Smartness, an Italian AI-based scaleup for the leisure and hospitality sector, secured a 47 million euros Series B round in primary and secondary equity and debt that attracted the resources of lead investors United Ventures and CDP Venture Capital and of Partech (see here a previous post by BeBeez). The firm will invest such proceeds in its international growth and strategic M&A. Since its birth in 2020, Smartness raised above 60 million. Luca Rodella, ceo, is one of the company’s founders. Fabio Pirovano is a partner of United Ventures.
Italian insurtech scaleup Wopta Assicurazioni secured a 5 million euros investment round in which Make Your Credit poured equity and said it acquired Zanni Broker and GM Insurance Brokers (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Wopta raised above 20 million since Vincenzo Macaione founded it in 2021 while its enterprise value amounts to more than 100 million. The company previously attracted the resources of club deal Asset Plus that grouped Holding B3, the Macchi Family, the Cammi Family, the Cordioli Family, Ettore Riello, Davide Parenti, Massimo Ambrosini, Key Capital, Cristina Parodi, Guido Fucina, Giorgio Gori, Carlo Fagioli, and Enrico Guidotti. A-Cube, an Italian fintech based in Milan that Antonino Caccamo (cto) and Alessandro Pagani founded in 2018, attracted 4 million euros for its organic growth and proprietary technology from lead investor P101 which channelled its resources through Programma 103, Azimut Eltif Venture Capital P103 and Programma 103R Digital (see here a previous post by BeBeez). A-Cube also received money from Sella Direct Ventures that will support the target’s growth with its international network. P101 retained Deloitte Advisory. BeDimensional (BD) invested more than 30 million euros for building a production plant for special materials in Livorno’s Interporto Toscano Amerigo Vespucci (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Vittorio Pellegrini, Francesco Bonaccorso and Andrea Gamucci spun off BD from Genoa Italian Institute of Technology’s Graphene Labs in 2016 and since then raised 35 million euros from venture capital investors and 20 million from the European Investment Bank. The company previously attracted the resources of EniNext, CDP Venture Capital, Eureka, Nova Capital, Pellan Italia of Achille Costamagna e C., Stefano Drago, and BluAcquario.
Indaco Venture Partners launched Indaco Bio – Parallel Lombardia, a vehicle with resources of 18.6 million euros, that attracted the commitment of Lombardia Venture STEP a fund that Finlombarda manages (see here a previous post by BeBeez). Indaco Bio will focus on life sciences, biotech and on those sectors that STEP will consider strategic. Elizabeth Robinson (vicepresident) and Davide Turco (ceo) are the co-founders of Indaco
